Credence, an Imperial Stout from Te Aro Brewing, is a bold and captivating brew that has been on quite the journey. Originally, the brewers had ambitious plans to create a Russian Imperial Stout with an impressive 22% ABV, but the fermentation process had other ideas, resulting in a super boozy and sweet liquid. After relocating to their new home in Upper Hutt, the brewers blended this barrel-aged treasure with a few other RIS barrels they had aging, creating a harmonious and complex final product. This stout boasts a rich, velvety mouthfeel and a decadent flavor profile that showcases notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and a subtle oakiness from the bourbon barrel aging. With a hefty 12% ABV, Credence is not for the faint of heart, but for those seeking a truly indulgent and memorable stout experience.
