Dive into the captivating world of Porter Noir, a sour and wild beer that takes you on a journey like no other. Crafted by the talented team at Hallertau Brewbar & Restaurant, this 6.6% ABV beer is a true masterpiece. The porter noir is a unique creation, aged for four months in Pinot Noir wine barrels sourced from the local Kumeu River Winery. The gentle hot water rinse of the barrels preserves the wine's character and the native yeasts within the wood, adding layers of complexity to the final product. The four-month maturation in the barrels introduces a delicate balance of woody tannins and a medley of forest-inspired flavors. The remnants of chocolate and soft acidity from the native yeasts create an exceptional mouthfeel, culminating in a long, drying finish. The secondary fermentation in the bottle is carried out with the same Brettanomyces yeast used in the renowned Belgian Trappist beer, Orval. This yeast dominates the aroma, offering a captivating bouquet of red currants, earthy notes, and a touch of the barnyard. Prepare to embark on a sensory adventure as you savor the Porter Noir, a beer that defies expectations and delivers a truly remarkable experience.
